Ph.D. Poster Competition on the Role of Emerging Technologies in AEC Education (In conjunction with ASCE International Conference on Computing in Civil Engineering)
This poster session aimed to advance knowledge in the application of emerging technologies in AEC education, by encouraging contributions to new concepts, methodologies, and best practices, as well as experiments and case studies for current and future integration of technologies in AEC education. We received over 30 abstracts and conducted a thorough review. Based on our evaluation, we selected nine Ph.D. students to participate in this poster competition. Each selected student was awarded $500 as travel assistance to attend the ASCE i3CE conference and present their poster. For more information, click here.
Series of NSF-Funded Workshops on the Next Generation Learning-Centered Environment for Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) Education
This is a collaborative NSF-funded project, aims to create a shared vision of the next generation learning-centered environment for Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) education. The perspective of the AEC industries is an integral part of the vision. For that reason, this project has designed two series of workshops to collect expert opinion on various aspects of AEC education from an industry perspective, such as industry’s expectation about future AEC education, parameters to measure student’s success in the industries, and mechanisms to better integrate industry needs with the undergraduate curricula of the nation’s AEC programs. Dr. Jafari Serves as the co-chair of these workshops. For more information, click here.
Virtual Workshop on COVID-19 and the Built Environment
This workshop hosted by SHBE and Dr. Jafari Served as the chair. The goal of this workshop was to share new ideas, brainstorm, and facilitate research collaboration regarding the topic of COVID-19 and the built environment. The workshop was featured idea presentations, focus group sessions with interactive brainstorming, and collaborative research idea sharing. For more information, click here.
Innovative Green Construction Poster Exhibition
Every year, LSU Discover hosts a campus-wide LSU Undergraduate Research Week to celebrate undergraduate research, scholarship, and creative endeavors. One day during this week, our team provides information about innovative green construction methods and materials through a poster exhibition event. Our team includes a group of undergraduate researchers supervised by Dr. Jafari. For more information, click here.
LSU Clean Energy Day
The LSU Clean Energy Day aims to increase the public awareness about green power and energy generation, and also provide students with a clear vision of potential careers and research paths that they can choose in this field. This event is Directed by Dr. Amin Kargarian from Louisiana State University and sponsered by Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU). Dr. Jafari Served as an organizer in this event.
